Ask your revenue anything.

Bastle turns Stripe into answers instead of another dashboard to interpret. Every number shows its work — the customers, the invoices, the formula. Metrics, dunning, cancellation insights and forecasting, in one product.

Why not just use Stripe's dashboard?

Stripe tells you what it billed. It counts trialing users as customers, cannot exclude your own test accounts, and handles delinquent subscriptions inconsistently — so the revenue number it shows is not the one you would put in a board deck. Bastle normalises all of it, lets you set the rules, and shows the working behind every figure.

Trust

Numbers you can defend

Most analytics tools ask you to trust a black box. Bastle is built the other way round: every definition is yours, and every figure is traceable.

Definitions you control

Set your own churn window, trial handling, refund and coupon rules. Change one and every historical figure recalculates against the new rule.

Every number shows its work

Click any figure to see the customers, invoices and formula behind it. No black box, no metric you cannot defend in a board meeting.

Traceable against Stripe

The rules that make a Bastle figure differ from Stripe's — trials excluded, test accounts removed, refunds applied — are yours to set and inspect.

Ask

Plain-English questions, sourced answers

Ask why MRR moved, which cohort churns hardest, or what a price change did to expansion. Bastle answers in a sentence and links the customers and invoices it used to get there.

  • Answers cite the exact records behind them
  • Works across every connected billing source
  • Available in the app, over the API, and via MCP

Why did MRR drop last month?

MRR fell $4,180 (−3.1%) in March. Almost all of it is contraction, not cancellations: 31 Scale customers downgraded to Growth after the annual renewal window opened.

Metrics

28 metrics, calculated your way

MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, ARPU, quick ratio, net revenue retention and the rest — segmented, compared and trended, with the definitions under your control.

  • Real-time, backfilled to your first customer
  • Compare any two periods, plans or segments at once
  • Trendlines that de-noise without hiding the signal

Recover

Win back failed payments automatically

Roughly one in eleven dollars of subscription revenue fails on renewal for reasons that have nothing to do with intent. Recover chases them with a sequence you control.

  • Email, in-app banner and hosted card-update page
  • Card-expiry warnings before the charge ever fails
  • Works alongside Stripe's retries, not against them

Cancellation Insights

Find out why — while you can still act

Capture the reason at the moment of cancellation, respond with an offer that fits it, and follow up automatically. Then watch which reasons are actually growing.

  • Reason-specific offers, pauses and plan switches
  • In-app widget, email questionnaire, or both
  • Trends that separate a bad month from a real problem

Definitions

Change a rule, recalculate history

Decide what counts as churn, how long a delinquent subscription stays alive, whether trials count, how refunds land. Change your mind and every historical figure updates against the new rule.

  • Per-workspace metric configuration
  • Formula and source records attached to every figure
  • Versioned audit log on definition changes: roadmap, not shipped

Frequently asked questions

How is Bastle different from Stripe's own dashboard?

Stripe reports what it billed; Bastle reports what your business earned. Stripe counts trialing users as customers, cannot exclude internal or test accounts, and treats delinquent subscriptions inconsistently — so its revenue figures rarely match the ones a founder or investor would recognise. Bastle normalises all of that, lets you set the rules yourself, and explains every movement in plain English.

How long does setup take?

Connecting takes about two minutes. You connect Stripe with OAuth and Bastle then backfills your complete billing history, which takes as long as your history is deep — every charge, subscription, refund and coupon since your first customer — then keeps it current. There is no script to install and no data engineering work for the core metrics.

What does Bastle cost?

Bastle is free while in beta. Every feature is included — metrics, Ask, dunning, cancellation insights, forecasting, segmentation and the API — with no add-on pricing and no card required to start.

Can I change how a metric is calculated?

Yes. Churn definitions, delinquency windows, trial handling, refund treatment, coupon and discount rules are all configurable per workspace. When you change a definition, Bastle recalculates history against the new rule, and every figure carries the formula and the records behind it. Bastle does not yet keep a versioned record of who changed a definition and when — that is on the roadmap, so treat a definition change as untracked for now.

Which billing systems does Bastle support?

Stripe is the source Bastle has exercised hardest. Chargebee, Recurly, Braintree, Paddle, PayPal and App Store / Google Play subscriptions have connectors in beta, each carrying its own status on the integrations page rather than a blanket claim here. Anything not natively supported can be pushed in through the import API and appears alongside native sources in the same dashboards.

Do I need a data team to use it?

No. The metrics, segments and forecasts are ready the moment your billing data syncs. If you do have a data team, Bastle exposes a full REST API, an MCP server for agents, signed outbound webhooks and CSV export, so it fits into an existing stack rather than replacing it. Managed warehouse destinations are on the roadmap and are not available yet.
